Handicapping tournaments/contests are events where participants compete against each other by predicting the outcomes of various races. In these competitions, each participant is typically required to make a certain number of picks or selections. The participants earn money (either real or mythical based off the actual payouts of the race) based on the accuracy of their predictions, and the individual with the highest total at the end of the tournament/contest is declared the winner. We will be doing mostly "real money" tourneys vs. mythical.
Handicapping tournaments/contests provide an opportunity for sports enthusiasts to showcase their knowledge and predictive skills, as well as to compete against like-minded individuals. They can also offer prizes or cash rewards to the winners, adding an extra incentive for participants to perform well. Additionally, these events can foster a sense of community among participants who share a passion for horse wagering.

Buy In vs Bankroll vs. Prize Money
- Tournament Entry is the combination of the Tournament Buy In (Prize Money) and the Tournament Bankroll. This is what players will need in their primary account to enter and play in the tournament.
- The Buy In is the part that goes to the prize pool
- Bankroll is what the player uses to make wagers with, in their tournament account. These are live wagers.
Whatever is left over in the bankroll gets transferred back to your wagering account.
If you already have the maximum number of seats into the NHC, and the seat is being offered as a prize, you will get the first available cash prize offered and the next seat eligible player on the winners' list will receive the seat.
Accessing the Tournament account
- When you register for a tournament, on the tournament start date, you will be given a display upon login that will let you choose to access your primary wagering account or your tournament wagering account.
If you have more than one entry, both will show and are accessed separately.
Once you have designated whether you would like to wager in your Primary or Tournament account, at the top of the screen a banner will display to indicate which account the player is wagering from. The blue banner will indicate the Primary Account, while the green banner will indicate the Tournament Account.
Cancellation of Entry and Wagers
- Accidental duplicate entries into a tournament cannot be cancelled.
- Any wagers placed on the primary account can be canceled if the race has not gone off and be made on the tournament account. However, if the race has gone off, there will be no cancellation or refunds.
- You are not required to play in the tournament if you did not mean to register, but you will not receive the Prize Money portion of your Buy-In back and the Tournament Bankroll will not be refunded until after the tournament is complete.
